Dream Space

Dream Space is an experimental, creative, and participative project which invites people from the city of Bath to share their stories of today and their dreams for tomorrow. The project was conceived and convened by Good for Nothing in partnership with Wild Labs and is inspired by protest stories heard on the streets of Bath.

Taking a place-based approach, Dream Space explores three core issues of concern for young people in Bath: racism, the climate and ecological crises, and the social inequalities that were revealed through Covid-19.  Together, residents have dreamt of a city that is not just beautiful, but also kinder, more inclusive, and existing in balance with nature. The powerful and personal stories have been captured through films, podcast episodes, poetry, song, spoken word and free form reflection and feature in an online story exhibition. https://thedreamspace.co.uk/

The next phase of work will see a ‘dreaming’ event hosted in an outdoor location near the city. The intention is to convene 50 people who have submitted personal stories and represent diverse perspectives across the issues. Over the day, the group will collectively dream and imagine how the city would evolve, what would change for more people to feel like they are seen, heard, represented and able to participate fully with agency as residents and citizens of Bath. This event will be captured through film and visual art and edited into a final output to be shared widely later this year. More details will follow on the Dream Space website.
